Katherine Fick Obituary

Katherine Ann Fick, 93, of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at her home.  
    She was born on Nov. 6, 1926 in Oronoco, Minn. to Robert and Alvena “Vena” (Meyers) Heins.  She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1944.  After high school she moved to Rochester and worked at a local restaurant.  On June 14, 1947 she married Edward Fick at Lincoln Church in rural Lake City.
    Katherine worked on the family farm her entire life, retiring in 2002 at the age of 75.  She was a member of Trinity Lincoln Ladies Aid, card clubs, and taught Sunday school for many years.  She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, baking (bread, in particular), sewing, reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, and in her younger years, taking care of her family.  She had a strong faith in her Lord.
    Katherine is survived by her daughters, Carol (Jerome) Pluym, Janice (Douglas) Swanson, Cindy (David) Poppke and Susan Fick;  her son, Robert (Sheila) Fick;  11 grandchildren, Tammy Pluym, Crystal Pluym, Jeremy Pluym, Sara Conway, Kit (Erin) Swanson, Ryan (Maryann) McNee, Katherine Poppke,  Jessica Poppke, Robyn (Kevin) Dankers, Heidi Burgeson, and Matthew (Courtney) Fick; 15 great-grandchildren, Comiel and Oscar Montemeyer, Grace Conway, Ella Conway, Carson Lindsey, Parker and Avery Swanson, Gabrella, Gavin, and Isabella McNee, Hailey, Shelby, and Jaysa Dankers, Connor and Brayden Burgeson; brother, Joe Heins; and her many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, who passed away in 1986; brother, Russell Heins; infant granddaughter; sister-in-law, Bernice Heins; son-in-law, Donald McNee, and her parents.
    A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27 at Trinity Lutheran Church - Lincoln in rural Lake City. A visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 26 at Mahn Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in  Lake City. Burial will be at Trinity Lincoln Church Cemetery.
