Kenneth Mulder obituary

    Kenneth John Mulder, 92, of Lake City, Minn. passed away on December 21, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Hospital – Rochester, Saint Marys Campus. He was born on January 13, 1929, in White, S. D. to John and Fanny (Terhark) Mulder. He attended country school near Rushmore, Minn.
    Kenneth farmed at Rushmore and served in the Noble County National Guard. He was called up for training at Fort Rucker, Ala. in 1951 and was discharged a C.P.L. in 1952. Kenneth continued to farm after his discharge. On February 17, 1955, he married Elaine Asleson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. They made their home on a farm by Rushmore until 1958 when they moved to a farm by Lake City in Mount Pleasant Township. In 2005 they retired from farming, and spent many winters at Pharr, Texas and later at Mesa, Ariz. until 2018. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.
    Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Mulder of Lake City; two sisters, Joyce Rust and LaDonne Christians both of Worthington, two brothers, Gerald Mulder of Worthington, and Burnell “Bernie” (Lois) Mulder of Merlin, Ore.; and 57 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Merlyn, Ralph, Harold, Emery, Richard and John, and sisters, Fern Bronleeve, Florence Stangeland, Marion Harberts, Elva Linn, and Beverly Greely, and seven nieces and nephews.
    A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Nathan Cordes officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City with Military Rites by the Lake City VFW Post #8729 and Lake City American Legion Post #110. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred.
