Kenneth Wiemann Obituary

    Kenneth G. Wiemann, a longtime resident of Wabasha, died on his 93rd birthday, Saturday, April 7, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Nursing Home in Wabasha, surrounded by his loving family.  
    He was born in Lake City April 7, 1925 to George and Lillian (Geiger) Wiemann.  He attended Lincoln High School in Lake City and graduated from Wabasha High School after the family moved to Wabasha.  Ken served his country with honor in the United States Army in Korea during the war there.  He returned to Wabasha and worked 32 years at Big Jo Flour Mill and later International Multi-Foods.  He retired in 1980.  He was united in marriage to Loretta Balow Miller Nov. 30, 1957.  Loretta died Sept. 8, 2013.
    He was a life member and past commander of the Wabasha American Legion Post 50.  He loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    Ken is survived by children, Harold “Butch” (Ellen) Miller, Greenfield, Ind., Cindy Mueller, Alma, Wis., Gary “Earl” Wiemann, Terry “Toad” Wiemann and Cheryl (Mike) Hanks, all of Wabasha; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Eastman, Minooka, Ill.; brothers-in-law, Dale Isaacson, Green Bay, Wis., Dean Kirkland, Red Wing, Donald (Joyce) Balow, South St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Mildred (Sam) Holtzman, Wabasha, Dolores Knospe, Alma, Wis.; several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta, son, Randall Miller, son-in-law, Bruce Mueller, sisters, Dorothy Kirkland, Betty Jane Markey and Joann Isaacson.
    A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at Abbott Funeral Home with Deacon John Hust of St. Felix Catholic Church officiating.  Interment will follow at St. Felix Cemetery in Wabasha.  Military rites will be performed by the Wabasha American Legion Post 50, the Burkhardt-Roemer VFW Post  4086 and the MNARNG Honor Guard.  Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, April 16, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
