LaDonna Puder obituary

LaDonna Ruth (Nieno) Puder, 91, of Rochester, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 21, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
LaDonna was born January 24, 1930 in Hutchinson, Minn. to Robert and Hilma (Estenson) Nieno. She graduated from Mankato High School, then on to Mankato State Teachers College. She taught first and second grades in Stillwater, Hutchinson and later as a substitute teacher in Rochester. She met her handsome husband Howard at her brother Bill’s drive-in in Ortonville, Minn. and was married in 1954.
LaDonna was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, aunt and friend to everyone who journeyed with her through life or the countless hearts touched by a single visit. LaDonna was a humble servant with many God-given talents. Her gift for writing notes and letters was legendary. She journaled daily for over 60 years and in her last months took pleasure having her children read entries aloud, sharing memories and giggles. LaDonna had a gift of hospitality through her cooking and baking (comfort food, the perfect size cookie and incredible pies). Music was another gift that blessed LaDonna at an early age. She was an exceptional pianist and organist, and she shared her gift at church and in the community. Gathering around the piano to sing and Christmas caroling became family traditions.
LaDonna was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Howard Puder.
She is survived by her six children, Sue Puder of Minneapolis, Minn., Peggy (Paul) Bankers of Zumbro Falls, Minn., Mary Jo Puder of Hutchinson, Minn., James (Julie) Puder of Hutchinson, Minn., Michael (Kandi) Puder of Tampa, Fla., and Sally (Mike) Axtell of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Jessica (Fred) Paul, Daniel Bankers, Mark Puder, Jonathan (Sydney) Puder, Sarah Puder, Laura (Eugene) Schoeman, Hannah, Emily, Timothy and Isaiah Puder, Brianna and Holly Axtell; great-grandchildren, Liam and Elsie Paul, Eddie Schoeman, Cali Puder and two soon to make their joyous appearance!
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Seasons Hospice, who provided exceptional care for Mom.
A celebration of LaDonna’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Evangel United Methodist Church, 2645 North Broadway Ave, Rochester, MN 55901. Visitation is one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Seasons Hospice in Rochester.
