Lorraine Swanson Obituary

    Lorraine Swanson, 101, of Vadnais Heights, Minn., passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 22, 2018.  
    Lorraine grew up on a farm in Vasa, Goodhue County, and lived most of her life in Red Wing and Lake City.  She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Swanson of Red Wing in 1979, special companion, Sumner Featherstone of Lake City in 2003 and dear friend, Sid Grinde of Lake City in 2006.
    In 2010 she moved to Shoreview, Minn. to be close to family.  Up until age 100, despite failing eyesight, Lorraine enjoyed reading newspapers and Time magazine with a light magnifier, discussing current events, dining with friends at Scandia Shores in Shoreview and attending family events.  She lost all eyesight in the fall of 2017 and moved to assisted living.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Scandia Shores, Suite Living of Vadnais Heights and Health Partners Hospice for their wonderful care.
    She is survived by children, Lynn (Keith) Hanson of Waconia, Steven (Nancy) Swanson of Sioux Falls, S.D., Karen (Steven) Crouch of North Oaks and Larry (Diane) Swanson of Sturgeon Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Shelly (Terry) Lewis of Anthem, Ariz., Tina (Joe) Stiller of Sioux Falls, SD, John (Amy) Crouch of Woodbury, Christopher Hanson (Cindy Mao) of Long Island City, NY, Jill (Matt) Krieger of Arden Hills, Sally (Shannon) O’Malley of Buffalo, Julie (David) Watts of Sioux Falls, S.D., Brian Crouch of Minneapolis, Michael Swanson of Farmington and Katie (Rick) Swanson of Bloomington; and great-grandchildren, Riley Stiller, Connor and Erin Crouch, Alexis and Ashley O’Malley, Lily and Ariana Watts, Natasha and Julian Krieger and Kyle Lewis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Aurora Erickson and husband, Raymond Swanson.
    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 30, at First Lutheran Church in Red Wing with Rev. Arthur Sharot officiating.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.  Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfunerahome.com.
