Louise King obituary

Louise Marie (Gilsdorf) King, 64, of Lake City, peacefully received her wings on September 26, 2024 after a strong 6-month battle with lung cancer. Louise was born December 31, 1959, to Leo and Ethel (Majerus) Gilsdorf in Red Wing, Minn. Growing up in Bellechester, Minn. with her 7 siblings;
Louise attended school in Bellechester and graduated from Goodhue High School in 1978. In February of 1983 she gave birth to her only daughter Paula, who was her everything. Later in life, she decided to go back to school and get a degree in HVAC. Louise graduated from Minnesota State College Southeast Tech Red Wing Campus in 1993. In 1997 she met the love of her life, Gary King, and they married on June 20, 1998. Louise worked at Pepin Manufacturing in Lake City, Minn. for almost 22 years, where she was able to work 15 of those years with her daughter.
Louise enjoyed hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, playing cards, dancing and she especially loved spending time with family. She also really enjoyed watching her granddaughters play softball and dance.
 She is survived by her loving husband Gary; daughter Paula (Terry) Schmitz of Lake City, Minn.; two stepsons, Dwane (Connie) King of Lake City, Minn. and Craig (Ashley) King of Mabel, Minn.; sister Mary (Lloyd) Powell of Ottumwa, Iowa; brothers Kenneth (Diane) Gilsdorf of Mazeppa, Minn., Larry (Sharon) Gilsdorf of Bellechester, Minn., and Ervin (Denise) Gilsdorf of Elgin, Minn.; sisters-in-law Kim Gilsdorf, Shirley (Neal) Vermeersch; and brother-in-law Duane (Kathy) King. Eight grandchildren, Alyssa (Skyler) Richards, Alana Schmitz, Alexis (David) Stigen, Parker King, Carter King, Baylee King, Elisabeth King and Isabella King. Three great-grandchildren Brynleigh Richards, Skye Stigen, Wynter Stigen and many nieces and nephews.  
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Ethel; three brothers, Cyril Gilsdorf, Ray Gilsdorf and Charlie Gilsdorf; sister-in-law Karen Gilsdorf and nephew Corey Gilsdorf.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson Peterson Chapel. Private gravesite service will be held on Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery with a lunch to follow at Bethany Lutheran Church.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
