Marvin Nelson obituary

Marvin Nelson, age 97, of Lake City died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Elysian Senior Home in Lake City.
    Marvin was born on February 11, 1924  to Martin and Jennie (Hanson) Nelson of Kalmas Township, Olmsted County. He attended Byron schools and went to work at Greenway Co-op where he worked for 33 years. He also worked as a Security Guard for Rochester Armored Car Company until his retirement in 1985. Marvin married his wife Helen on March 4, 1945 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. They moved to the Lake City area in 1968. Marvin enjoyed golfing, fishing, cards and traveling. He volunteered at Oakwood Cemetery  for 17 years and was a member of the Lake City Lions Club.
    Marvin is survived by his two daughters, Marie Snow of Phoenix, Ariz., Linda Nelson of Phoenix, Ariz.; son, Lee of Phoenix Ariz.; grandchildren, Stacie, Jeff, Heidi. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Mike; grandchild, Tina.
    A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson – Peterson Chapel in Lake City with the Rev. Duane Holst officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation will be one hour before the services. The service will be live streamed on our Facebook page.
