Mathias Miller Obituary

Mathias E. “Matt” Miller, 91, of Bellechester, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center.
    Mathias Edward Miller was born August 6, 1926 in Bellechester to Mathias and Leona (Arendt) Miller. He was raised in rural Bellechester and attended school there. Matt started farming in rural Bellechester. Matt enlisted in the Army on May 9, 1952 and proudly served our country in Korea. After his honorable discharge on Feb. 8, 1954, Matt returned to rural Bellechester and continued farming. He was a member of the Bellechester Council 2751 Knights of Columbus and Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mazeppa.
    Matt is survived by his three siblings, sisters, Helen Richardson of Lake City and Justine Schei of Rochester and a brother, Albert (Bette) Miller, of Mazeppa; sister-in-law, Sherri Miller, of Mazeppa; and many nieces and nephews. Matt was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lorraine Glander; and five brothers, Lawrence, Elmer, Henry, Ronald and Joseph Miller.
    A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, July 10, at 11 a.m., at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Mazeppa, with Fr. Will Thompson celebrating the mass. Visitation will be Monday, July 9,  from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Larson Chapel in Zumbrota, and one hour prior to the mass at the church on Tuesday.
