Michael Hoops Obituary

Michael Hoops, 56, of Lake City, passed away at home on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
    He was born on July 4, 1961 to Ronald and Margaret (Hein) Hoops in Lake City. Michael graduated from Lincoln High School in 1980. He married Carol Nibbe on Aug. 30, 1980 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City.  They lived in the Lake City area.  Michael worked at Lodermeier’s in Goodhue and worked for Cargill where he retired due to health issues.  He enjoyed farming, his Angus cows, traveling to Bemidji, and most of all working in his shop.  He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends and family.
    Michael is survived by his wife, Carol of Lake City; children, Amanda (Jeremy) Kohrs and Emily (Jason) Banks, both  of Lake City and Jacob (Chelsea Hammerschmidt) Hoops of Minneapolis; parents, Ronald and Margaret Hoops; three grandchildren, Connor and Mackenzie Kohrs and Jayden Banks; two sisters, Charlene Auge of Red Wing and Nancy (Kevin) Webster of Lake City; brother-in-law, Brian Auge of Northfield; and many nieces and nephews.
    A Celebration of Life will be Monday, Feb. 5, from 5  p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lake City Sportsman’s Club in Lake City.
