Renee Reutzel obituary
Renee Marcella Reutzel, age 84, of Lake City, formerly of Mankato, Minnesota died Thursday, June 19, 2025 with family by her side, in Mayo Clinic Health System-Cannon Falls, Minn. There will be a visitation one hour (10 a.m. to 11 a.m.) prior to the Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City, Minn. with Fr. Thé Hoang officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato, Minn. on Tuesday, June 24 at 3:30 p.m. for those who wish to witness her burial. Renee was born August 25, 1940 the second daughter of Walter G. and Eleanor G. (Lunkenheimer) Neubert in Mankato, Minn. Renee grew up in Mankato and graduated high school on June 1, 1958 from the Academy of Our Lady of Good Council. Renee attended Mankato State University from 1958-1960 and she graduated from St. Mary’s Practical School of Nursing in Rochester, in 1962. She worked at Immanual-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato and also did private duty from 1962-1965.
While attending a dance at the Mankato Ballroom in 1962, Renee met the love of her life, Robert J. Reutzel. They were married May 11, 1963 and together they owned the Mankato Clinic Pharmacy and later the Prescription Care Center in Mankato. While at the PCC, Renee loved caring for those who needed breast prothesis, back braces, and special garments. She was always helping others and willing to do what was needed. To this union three children were born: Jerry, Tom and Jane. Renee was a devoted wife and mother and right hand to her husband’s Pharmacy Business in Mankato, Minn.
Renee was a long-time, devoted member of St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church while living in Mankato. She loved going to church, planting flowers, spending time and eating ice cream with her grandchildren. Renee loved visiting and traveling, she also enjoyed being in nature, watching the birds, and looking at beautiful flowers.
A special thanks to Visiting Angels in Mankato, who allowed her to remain in her own home, in Mankato. In August of 2023, Renee moved to Lake City to be closer to her daughter and family, finding a beautiful home at Elysian Senior Homes of Lake City.
Renee is survived by her children: Jane (husband Dan) Medvec of Lake City, Minn., Jerry (wife MaryGen) Reutzel of Chanhassen, Minn., Thomas Reutzel of Lino Lakes, Minn.; grandchildren: Bryan (fiancée Riley Luebben), Jonathan, Tyler, Noah, Mitchel Medvec (fiancée Mackenzie Merta), Madeline Medvec (fiancée Ryan McFadden), Robert M. Reutzel; sister: Kathleen Graham of Cottage Grove, Minn.; sisters-in-law: Lorraine Szuberski of Fairmont, Minn., Darlene (Joseph) Singer of Le Sueur, Minn., Margie Reutzel of Swisher, Iowa, Nancy Reutzel of Winona, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 2020, sister JoAnn (Curtis) Borchert, brothers-in-law: Ervin (Dorothy) Reutzel, Harvey Reutzel, Richard Reutzel, Darrell Reutzel, and Raymond Szuberski.
