RJ Arruda obituary
RJ Arruda, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and loyal friend, left this world far too soon at the age of 45 on February 15, 2026.
Raised in San Diego, California, RJ’s love for music began at 15 years old when he started producing beats. Before long, he became known in the San Diego music scene as Ethyx. His music was more than a passion. It saved his life, carried him through difficult seasons, inspired countless people, and opened doors that took him around the world. Creating was not just something he did. It was woven into who he was, a living piece of his soul.
He attended college, earned four degrees, traveled the world, and became a proud father to his beautiful daughter, Tallulah Soleil. Later, while playing Battlefield 5, he met the woman who would become his perfect match. After a two-year gaming courtship, he traded his saltwater West Coast roots for Minnesota, where he married Michelle. On February 10, 2024, they professed their love at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego. They celebrated their anniversary each year on Super Bowl Saturday, a date only true football fans could fully appreciate.
RJ was compassionate, honest, and fiercely loyal. He treated everyone with respect and never hesitated to speak the truth. If someone needed help, he showed up. If something needed to be done, he did it. He gave what he could, whether it was his time, his advice, or his heart. He was unforgettable to those who knew him, and deeply loved by many.
RJ will be forever missed by his family and friends, who will carry his laughter, his music, and his love with them always. In his final moments, he was not alone. By his side was his beloved red nose pitbull, Molly, 11 years old and as devoted as ever. She loved slow walks, warm cuddles, and resting her head close to his. Gentle, loyal, and pure hearted, she was family in every sense of the word. She passed peacefully beside him, exactly where she felt safest.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 21st at 5 p.m. at the Lake City Sportsman’s Club. All are warmly invited to come. Arrangements handled by Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel.
