Robert Cox obituary

Robert L. Cox, 72, of Lake City passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at his home.
    Robert was born March 9, 1949 in Lake City to Clarence and Colleen (Holden) Cox. In his childhood, he went to live with his grandparents, John and Eleanor Holden. He grew up in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1967. Robert joined the Air Force in 1967 and served during the Vietnam War until 1971. Robert returned home and married Joanne Plote July 28, 1973 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. Robert worked at Federal-Mogul in Lake City as a machinist for 39 years and eight months. Robert was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City, VFW Post 8729 and Union Local 650. He was an avid fisherman who most enjoyed spending time with his family.
    Robert is survived by his wife Joanne of Lake City; two daughters, Shannon (Jeremy) Tomforde of Lake City, Dawn Tesmer of Lake City; a son, Tony (Bethanie) Cox of Lake City; six grandchildren, Brianna Tesmer, Jackson Tomforde, Cassidy Tomforde, Matalyn Tesmer, Mallory Cox and Werner Cox; a brother Tom (Sharon) Cox of Stedman, N.C.; three sisters, Stormy (Charlie) Jurs of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lori Huro of Ogilvie, Minn., Linda (Bill) Seamana of Mora, Minn.; special uncle, John  (Mona) Holden of South Carolina and special aunt, Doris Strom of Red Wing, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents and two half-brothers.
    A memorial service for Robert will be held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City. Reverend Nathan Cordes will be officiating. A walk-through visitation will be on Tuesday, April 27, 2021, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home Anderson – Peterson Chapel Lake City. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Lake City. A live stream of the service will be on the Mahn Family Funeral Home Facebook page starting at 1 p.m. Online condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com. Masks and social distancing are required.
