Ron Hunt obituary
Ron Hunt, artist, passed away May 10, 2023 in Waconia, Minn. where he was a resident of The Good Samaritan Care Center. He was born Feb. 3, 1934 in a boxcar near Esterville, Iowa. He grew up on a farm near West Concord, Minn.
As an artist, he was self-taught. He did oils, pastels, pencil, pen and ink, water colors and more. His commissions included Mayo Clinic Fellows Association, American Medical Women’s Association, State of Minnesota Historical Society, and many communities and associations who commissioned him to do calendars, including the City of Rochester, Minn.
He was a well-traveled artist and his favorite places were Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Cape Cod, Cuba, Nova Scotia, Central America, the Caribbean, and other places where he drew and painted.
Following the river boats on the Mississippi River, he would set up and sell his artwork to the passengers. Natchez, Miss. was his favorite place to set up in the fall and spring. He would spend his winters in Mexico.
A Celebration of Life event is planned for Thursday, June 15, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Family Restaurant in downtown Lake City, Minn. for all his friends and many followers.
