Suzanne Kinnear obituary
Suzanne Florence Kinnear, born March 4, 1938, in Lake City, Minnesota, died peacefully on Sunday, April 13.
The daughter of Robert and Florence Fick, Suzanne grew up alongside her sister Diane in the picturesque lakeside town of Lake City, Minnesota. It was there that she met David V. Kinnear. They married in 1956 and began their journey together, eventually settling in suburban Minneapolis during the early 1960s to raise their three children. Suzanne dedicated over 25 years to Dayton’s and Macy’s department stores, where she enjoyed interacting with both colleagues and customers.
Suzanne’s family was the center of her world. She is survived by her children: David Kinnear (Cindy) of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; Diane Daly (Kevin) of Minneapolis; and Douglas Kinnear (Liz Frombgen) of Winfield, Kansas. Her sister Diane Taylor (Dave) of Marshall, Minnesota also survives her, along with five beloved grandchildren who brought much joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her husband David V. Kinnear, son Robert Kinnear, and grandson George Daly.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and sister, Suzanne reveled in spending time with her grandchildren and traveled frequently during their younger years to bridge the miles between them. She also found happiness in reading, traveling, exercising, and engaging in long conversations with friends and family members. Suzanne took joy in watching her grandchildren grow into accomplished adults.
Though chronic illness robbed her of vigor, Suzanne’s life was a good one. She will be deeply missed but remembered with love, and her family will keep her memory alive.
A private service and interment will be held in Lake City, Minnesota, where Suzanne will be laid to rest next to her husband. Those wishing to make memorial gifts should know that some of Suzanne’s favorite causes are Toys for Tots, the American Humane Society, Twin Cities PBS, and Presbyterian Homes and Services (Folkestone).
