Vern Freese obituary

    Vern E.J. Freese, 67, of Ostrander, MN, died on Monday, November 8, 2021 at his home.
    Vern Emil Jake Freese was born in Houston, Minn. on May 20, 1954 to Frank J. and Alice (Ross) Freese.  He attended Lincoln High School in Lake City, Minn. Following graduation, he joined the military and was stationed in Germany for most of his military career. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked in Lake City where he met and married Sandy Lane.  After 21 years of marriage, they were divorced. They lived in Colorado for a short time. Vern’s job as a machinist took him to many different areas of the country. He later retired due to health issues. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, driving his Jeep, and being with his friends and family.  
    Vern is survived by his children, Amy Freese of Ostrander, Minn. and Zachary Freese of Rochester, Minn., and grandchildren Romy Yost and Joseph Freese.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janice, and brother Robert.
    Burial will be held at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, Minn. at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021. A gathering at the Preston Servicemen’s Club will follow.
