Vernon Altman Obituary

Vernon Lewis Altman, 76, of Lake City, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020 at the Veterans Administration Clinic in Rochester.  
    He was born Dec. 3, 1943 in Billings, Mont. to Ralph and Lula (Palin) Altman.  He grew up in Billings and attended school there until the 10th grade.  Vernon enlisted in the U.S. Army from Jan. 10, 1961 to Jan. 10, 1964 during the Vietnam era.  While serving in the Army he obtained his GED.  On Nov. 4, 1967 he married Lorena Farrens in Billings, Mont.
    Vernon was an over-the- road truck driver.  He enjoyed spending his time woodworking, and helping his daughter on the farm.  Vernon especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling them.  The Altman’s moved to Lake City in 2012.
    Vernon is survived by his wife, Lorena Altman of Lake City; daughters, Shawna (Bryant) Kranz of Lake City and Verna (Jeremy) Jensen of Grass Range, Mont.; six grandchildren, Allison, Lance, Jacob, Devon, Shane, and Kayla; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Karen Reimer of Sioux Falls, S.D.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Lois Carroll.
    Vernon wished to have his body cremated and no services will be held at this time.
