Walter Peters obituary

    Walter Peters, 85, of Tomah, Wisc., passed away Thursday, May 26, 2022. He passed away at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis after surgery for a broken hip.
    Walter was born in Lake City, Minn. to Margaret (Thomforde) and John Peters.  After high school, he served in the army, spending part of his service in Germany. He attended college at the University of Minnesota and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. At the U of M Lutheran Student Center he met Patricia Keehn and they were married on December 18, 1960.
    His entire career was with the Veteran’s Administration.  He worked in seven different states; and was Chief of the Personal Department when he retired. He was an avid gardener his entire life, making his many homes more beautiful.
    Walter is survived by his wife, Patricia; and their four children: Ann, Elizabeth (Aldo), Margaret, and Luther (Carol); as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  
    He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings: Hans, Arnold, Martha (Wenger), John, Louis, his daughter Sarah, and his granddaughter Meghan.
    Internment at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at a future date.
