Wayne Keeran obituary

Wayne Edward Keeran, 75, of Lake City passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021 at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester, surrounded by family. He was born October 6, 1946 in Jefferson, Iowa to Edward and Ruby (DeWitt) Keeran. He attended school in Iowa and Minnesota graduating from John Marshall High School Rochester, Minn. in 1965.  He entered the Air Force in 1966.  He loved to tell the story of 1966 meeting the love of his life, one month before going into the service, having one date and marrying that girl, Anita Jean Fick, September 9, 1967.
After their marriage they lived in Montana and Oklahoma. In 1969 Wayne served his country in the United States Air Force, Red Horse Squadron, by going to Vietnam. He was discharged home December 25, 1969, as a Staff Sergeant to his wife, son, and daughter. After discharge from the service he worked at Gould, Riviera Kitchens, Red Wing and did carpentry work for Keeran Construction. He was a school bus driver for 25 years and a semi driver for Will Do Trucking for 10 years, along with farming.  He especially loved his family, his grandchildren, fishing, driving, and going to auctions.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and past post commander, a member of the American Legion, and former member of the Lions. Wayne was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church for over 50 years and served in various offices. He volunteered many years in helping prepare the community Thanksgiving dinners.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Anita Keeran of 54 years; a daughter Tammy (Ali) Omar, Lewiston; son Wayne Jr. (Denise) Keeran, Prior Lake; grandchildren Sajda Omar, Hunter Keeran, and Gabbie Keeran; brother Steve, Arizona; and aunt Bethene LeMahieu, New York City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Gary; sister-in-law Linda Keeran; and nephew Corey.
Due to the COVID-19 situation in our state at the present time, a memorial service will be held in the summer of 2022.
