Increase funding to care for people with developmental disabilities

Gov. Tim Walz recognizes that fifty-three years ago Richard Nixon signed the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Act. Later, Nixon wrote that persons with developmental disabilities “deserve the most serious consideration of those who are concerned with bringing about true justice under law.” Since that time, Minnesotans Steve Sviggum, Mike Osskopp, Linda Berglund and Betty McCollum are among many seeking justice- a bipartisan matter. Our state has a checkered history towards people with DD, which includes abuses at institutional dumping grounds.
