Letter: Plant’s 150-year history here made possible through collaboration
Recently, the employees of Federal Mogul Lake City celebrated the 150th anniversary of the founding of the business in our city. This is amazing when you consider that the average life of a manufacturing business in the U.S. is just 20 years. To try to put into context the enormity of this milestone requires an understanding of the challenges to an organization in this type of business to adapt to the incredible amount of change in products, manufacturing methods and technology over that time period. At the most basic level I believe there are currently three requirements for this longevity to even be possible.
