The end of the Vietnam War was 50 years ago - in May 1975.
Vietnam won its independence from France in 1954 and shortly after was divided into two countries, communist and democratic. The United States’ involvement began on November 1, 1955, when President Eisenhower deployed our Military Advisory Group to assist in training the South Vietnam Army in their fight against the communists in North Vietnam.
