Legion baseball splits 2 games

Lake City’s Legion baseball team split a pair of games this week, losing 5-4 at St. Charles last Thursday and beating Dover-Eyota 3-2 at home Monday.
St. Charles scored all five of their runs in the first three innings to lead Lake City 5-1 until  the sixth inning when Post 110 tallied three runs to draw within one run.  Lake City got a runner on base in the seventh when Zach Scharpen singled with one out, then stole second and third base to put the tying run 90 feet away.  But St. Charles hurler David Hanson got the last two outs to earn the win.
