Skiers compete in Red Wing loppet

Members of Lake City Nordic cross country ski club competed in Dave Asp Loppet, hosted by Red Wing Nordic, on Saturday Jan. 4.

“The snow conditions were questionable all week long,” said Jim Anderson, coach of Lake City, “but Red Wing did an amazing job of getting the course in shape for the races.”

Red Wing’s high school Nordic ski club, alumni skiers, and community volunteers were dedicated to make the race work, Anderson said. Dave Asp was the founder of the Red Wing Nordic ski club and passed away from melanoma cancer in 2018.
