Fire department collects 235 masks Saturday

Lake City Firefighters collected 235 donated homemade masks Saturday as part of a mask drive at fire stations statewide. The donated masks will be packaged and delivered to congregate care facilities that request them. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend wearing cloth masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. “Thank you to all of our Lake City residents who generously contributed their time and resources making and donating 235 masks,” the department said on Facebook. Jayden Lichtenberg took the opportunity to present an oversize thank-you card to the Lake City Fire Department. His grandmother Marilyn Lichtenberg said the card was created as part of a Cub Scout challenge to thank firefighters, police, and doctors and nurses during the pandemic. With him are firefighters Dan Cox and Justin Campbell.
