Gardenaire garden tour is Saturday, July 11
Lake City Gardenaire Garden Club’s 4th annual Garden Tour is Saturday, July 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine. This self-guided garden tour consists of seven beautiful gardens in and near Lake City.
Tickets are $10 per person. Pre-sale tickets are available for purchase through July 11 at Lake City Fresh Market and Kennedy Drug by Sterling. Tickets will also be available on the day of the tour from 9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at these two garden sites in Lake City: Jennifer Clementson, 603 South Oak St. and Barbara Schroeder, 915 North High St.
Highlights on this year’s Garden Tour include a “Red, White, and Blue” garden for our nation’s 250th anniversary. Another garden was established using a grant to plant using native perennial pollinators. Tour a small garden planted for maximum effect, using window boxes, hanging fence baskets and combination pots. Other gardens will feature rock borders and boulders. See a creative planting using a tree stump, a remnant from storms past as the focus. Some of the gardens are relatively new plantings and some are a collection that include years of found treasures. The tour will include a diverse range of gardens including sun and shade, flowers and vegetables, perennials, annuals, container gardens, shrubs, rose bushes, hydrangeas, grasses, peonies, lilies and a variety of unique plants. Every garden displays the owner’s love of gardening and spending time in their “happy place.”
Proceeds will be used to cover expenses such as decorating the three Lake City entrance signs in the fall, as well as other community projects that promote local gardening. Last year a portion of the proceeds were donated to the Lake City Lincoln High School greenhouse program.
