Kiwanis hears about ambulance service

Lake City Ambulance Commission member Julie Le Captain and Lake City Ambulance Service Director Sara Rybarczyk were the guest speakers at a recent Lake City Kiwanis Club meeting.

Le Captain is retiring from the commission after 9 years.

Rybarczyk, who grew up in Little Rock, Ark., has been on the service 19 years and director 11 years.

She recently was chair of the Minnesota State Emergency Medical Service during a critical time of transition for the service.

Rybarczyk is very efficient since she has a family, manages a staff of 10 full-time, 2 volunteers and 15 part-time staff and is responsible for maintenance of the new Public Safety Building.

This staff is very well trained with regular updated training which is a big commitment that benefits all of us significantly.

Dr. Dennis Spano has been the Ambulance Service medical director since 1996.

Rybarczyk reports that they will be receiving a new, better equipped and better riding, $300,000+ ambulance soon to go with two others.
