Kiwanis hears about hearing loss
The Lake City Kiwanis Club recently listened to a program about hearing loss and cognitive decline presented by audiologist Dr. Melody Maerz.
She explained that hearing loss isn’t just an issue with inability to hear but that the lack of brain stimulation from voice and other environmental sounds around us caused the brain to start reorganizing cells that affects our brain’s cognition ability.
Devices that increase signals are helpful for more than just hearing. Learning for children and our members is a big part of the goals of Kiwanis.
