New trees need lots of water

City crews have been digging holes and planting trees this past week on city streets and in the marina. Over 200 trees have been lost in 2019-2020, mostly because of damage from storms and the emerald ash borer insect. The city is planting a wide variety of trees now and plans to plant more in the fall.

With hot weather approaching, these trees and all trees planted within the last few years will need a lot of water to survive until their roots get established.
