Quist: For absorbing the shock of war, vets deserve our gratitude

Today is Veterans Day — Monday Nov. 11, 2019 — and this year is the centennial, the 100th anniversary, of the treaty that ended the First World War — and this year is also the 100th anniversary of the American Legion. It is important that we remember why we celebrate Veterans Day on Nov. 11 each year, that cold November Armistice Day that ended the Great War 101 years ago. This is what we will pause to think about today — this is “Why History Matters.”
