Students learn about courts, county government, veterans

The 61st annual Boys and Girls Wabasha County Day was held on May 1.

The seven American Legion Posts of Wabasha County: Lake City, Wabasha, Kellogg, Plainview, Millville, Elgin and Mazeppa hosted this event along with Wabasha County Recorder Jeff Aitken.

The high schools in the county, Lake City, Wabasha and Plainview sent 36 students and advisers for a full day of activities.

It’s now official – Wabasha County is a Purple Heart County. In action taken at their regular meeting on April 17, the Wabasha County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to designate Wabasha County as a Purple Heart County.
