Heir apparent?: Council votes to seek marina head replacement internally

The Lake City City Council voted 4-3 to conduct an internal search for someone to replace the retiring Mark Lutjen as the city’s marina administrator.

The vote and another to accept Lutjen’s retirement resignation came at the May 14 city council meeting.

Marina administrator is considered a department head position, and the council has a policy that doesn’t restrict the applicant pool. The policy offers some flexibility, but the path chosen by the council didn’t appear to be covered by the policy.
