Updated: Weather to highway project: Chill out

Cold weather delayed a detour for the Highway 61 reconstruction project that was supposed to go into effect Tuesday by a day.

On Monday the following announcement appeared on the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s (MnDOT) project website:

“The planned April 14 start date for the Lake City Hwy. 61 reconstruction project has been delayed because cooler temperatures are preventing pavement removal. A new start date will be announced once temperatures warm up.”

That announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
