Arbor Day ceremony reflects growing interest in restoring Lake City’s canopy
Arbor Day is officially the last Friday in April, but Lake City’s event May 15 was a little later and a lot more elaborate than in years past.
Lake City’s Arbor Day events in recent years have consisted of planting a tree somewhere in a boulevard or public space with a member of the city’s Streets and Parks Commission on hand.
In the last year the city has created a forestry advisory committee, and the grander Arbor Day celebration is part of its effort to bring awareness to tree issues in Lake City.
