As public ash tree removal continues, city urges residents to watch for EAB on private trees
One of the biggest ash trees in Lake City came down last week.
The former boulevard resident on the 400 block of Woodburn Street was a recent casualty of the emerald ash borer (EAB).
Since it first appeared in Lake City in 2017, the invasive insect infestation has claimed over half of the city’s boulevard ash trees.
Lake City Streets and Parks Supt. Bruce Wallerich said that of the more than 570 trees that have been removed from city land and right-of-way since EAB appeared, about 250 were ash trees.
