VFW donates enormous flag to Lake City Fire Department
The Lake City Fire Department has flown a large flag from its ladder truck several times over the years, but it was always a loaner, usually borrowed from the Hastings Perkins, according to Fire Chief Dan Patterson.
Now, thanks to the Lake City VFW, the department has a flag of its own, and Patterson is hopeful that it will become a familiar site at events around the area.
It’s called a garrison flag and measures 20-feet-by-38-feet. Such flags can cost more than $1,000.
