Wabasha County Commissioners on Aug. 1 held a public hearing to allow citizens to comment on whether to change the County Recorder position from appointed to elected.
Three people spoke in favor of keeping the position elected. The Commissioners will make a final decision on the issue during their Aug. 15 meeting.
Minnesota Statute allows county boards under certain circumstances to fill the vacancy of an elected office of County Recorder by appointment.
