New Hope Church celebrates 150th anniversary with community event on Sept. 23

New Hope Church in Lake City is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year.
On July 11, 1873 six Swedish immigrant couples met to officially organize as a Baptist congregation under the direction of an American Baptist minister, according to a news release. They were then known as the First Swedish Baptist Church of Lake City.
