After more than 18 years, Megan Smith is leaving the City of Lake City Planning Department.
Smith submitted her resignation June 11 effective July 11.
She came to Lake City as assistant city planner in 2006. In 2017, she became city planning and community development director.
Since then the department has overseen about $150 million in building permits, and the city has undertaken major initiatives such as the Highway 61 reconstruction project, the new public safety building, and the re-imagining of Ohuta Beach.
