Ohl: Wally’s Wild Ride, Part 1

His name was Wallace, but you didn’t hear it used much. He was just good old Wally to us, and he was a fisherman. Fishing was totally his thing especially in the winter. He couldn’t afford a decent boat, so the winter ice brought a chance for him to be out on the lake. Over the holidays in 1969 he cobbled together a 4’ by 6’ barebones, fish house made from scrap lumber, tarpaper and other assorted free materials which would allow him to be out there on that “hard water” even in nasty weather. He named it the “Palace” as that is what it was to him.
