Fans near and far cheer on Taylor Heise as Team USA advances to Olympic gold medal game

Ken Heise was one of about 50 people gathered at Port 104 Friday afternoon to watch the U.S. women’s hockey team win its Olympic quarterfinal match against Italy 6-0.

Heise’s grandaughter, Lake City native Taylor Heise, wears No. 27 for Team USA.

For years, Ken drove Taylor to school and hockey practice.

He said he was very proud to see her competing at the Olympics.

About 4,600 miles away, a group of more than 30 people were in the stadium watching the same game up close.
