Lake City’s public libraries

Fun fact, I used to work at the Lake City Public Library as a library assistant during my final years of high school. It quickly became one of my favorite places to work growing up, and to this day I miss sorting and shelving books there. We’re incredibly lucky to have such a beautiful facility, and especially one with so many kind, caring staff. There are tons of programs to partake in that span everything from talks by visiting authors to crafts to demonstrations to clubs. The best part of all, however, has to be the fact that a library card is free, meaning all the amazing resources to be found here are available to anyone and everyone who wants or needs them. This wasn’t always the case, and in light of the exciting news that the library has received a special donation from the Carnegie Corporation of New York for the celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary (see related story), I thought it was time to share its past.
