David Bremer obituary
David D. Bremer, 93, of Lake City, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026 at the Elysian Senior Home in Lake City.
Dave was born on July 27, 1933 in Red Wing, Minnesota to Alvin and Leila (Lyon) Bremer. Dave graduated from Lake City Lincoln High School and joined the army, spending three years in the service. He came home after being discharged and married his sweetheart, Patti, on June 7, 1958. Dave went on to become not only a Lake City Policeman and Wabasha County Deputy Sheriff, but also the owner of Bremer’s Orchard and Deer Farm. There, he blended the caretaking of his family orchard with a love for the exotic animals he and Patti raised alongside their children, becoming known for his Arctic Cat snowmobiles as well as his real cats, the cougar and the lions, in addition to various other animals. Always one for an adventure, he spent his retirement traveling the world with his beloved wife, taking his grandchildren on four-wheeler expeditions, and even building a zipline for them in their backyard.
David is survived by his daughters, Lori (David) Ehlenfeldt, Merri (Scott Koon) Bremer; sons, Scott (Heather) Bremer, Kirk (Kate) Bremer; eight grandchildren, Derek Bremer, Devin Bremer, McKenna Bremer, Daria Koon, Jason Ehlenfeldt, Jessi (Luke) Leichtnam, Michael Brumfield, Rob Swarn; two great grandchildren, Landon and Zoey Leichtnam.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Patti; daughter, Angela Lee Bremer; parents, Alvin and Leila Bremer; brother, Robert Bremer; sister, Nancy (Bremer) Dahlquist; and grandson Jake Howlett.
He spent his life in the town he loved alongside the woman he loved. David and Patti spent 65 wonderful years together, raising their children and grandchildren in the home they built together. Dave was a romantic, showering Patti with flowers at every opportunity. After her passing, he continued this tradition, signing the card “to my forever wife from your forever husband.”
A celebration of David’s life will be held Friday, August 21, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson – Peterson Chapel, Lake City. A private family burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Lake City. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
