Gertrude Dose Obituary
Gertrude Dorothy Dose, 90, of Lake City, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System - Lake City Care Center, after a stroke.
She was born on March 24, 1926 to Arnold and Alma (Nelson) Anderson in Little Falls, Minn.. She attended the Minnesota School of Agriculture in St. Paul, where she met James. On Jan. 23, 1951, Gertrude married James Dose, in Minneapolis. They eventually moved to Wabasha and raised their family there. Gertrude worked as a secretary for the Wabasha/Kellogg schools for 16 years until retiring. They moved to the Little Falls area in 1985. James passed away on March 8, 1988. In 1995 Gertrude moved to Lake City. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she participated in the MLC Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed needle work, gardening, and reading.
Gertrude is survived by her children, Robert (Linda) Dose of Lake City, Deb Swanson of Stewartville, and Brian (Donna) Dose, of Fairfax, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Fiek of Rochester and Aleen (Jerry) Temp; one brother, Paul (Suzanne) Anderson of Reston, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Dose and one daughter, Patricia Hassanstab.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. John Berg officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel in Lake City is handling the arrangements.
