Group walks with common purpose

Since 2008, the Walking Lake Pepin Fitness Challenge has been encouraging Lake City residents to commit to walking and other physical activities such as biking and swimming during the summer months to improve their health and prevent chronic disease.  
Research shows beyond a doubt that moderate physical activity for 150 minutes a week over four to five days builds fitness, prevents chronic disease and can contribute to healthy aging and longevity.  One of the inspirations for the Walking Lake Pepin program came from the “Blue Zones” project.
