Part-time cops to get pay hike
Lake City Police Chief Cory Kubista didn’t have any trouble figuring out why he had trouble retaining part-time police officers.
Everyone else in the area was paying a lot more money.
Kubista got City Council authority of a partial fix to the problem. He will begin paying part-time officers an additional $3 per hour. He can cover that much of a change under his current budget, he said.
And, he assured the council, he will be back for more next year when the 2018 budget is worked out.
