Contract negotiatons between Mayo Clinic Health System in Lake City and its nurses have stalled over staffing levels.
The nurses want the contract to include a commitment from Mayo to staff at least two nurses with special emergency department (ED) training at all times, according to Kathy McQuillan of the Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA).
McQuillan is the lead negotiator on behalf of 40 MNA members employed by Mayo in Lake City.
Emergency department nurses handle a “higher level” of emergency situations, McQuillan said.
