Lake City becomes a ‘Purple Heart Community’

Representatives from local, regional, and state veterans groups were on hand Aug. 16 to watch the Lake City City Council unanimously approve a motion to make the city a “Purple Heart Community.”
The designation honors members of the U.S. armed forces who received the Purple Heart for being wounded or killed in combat.
