History and heritage group tours former opera house

An IRS-approved non-profit corporation has been established to create an informative, educational and entertaining interpretive center focused on the geology, history, cultural heritage, and ecology of our unique area and city.

Members of a steering group formed by the nonprofit recently toured the old Hanisch Opera House downtown to examine potential facilities for a proposed History and Cultural Heritage Interpretive Center.

Raymond Hanisch began staging public events in the second-floor opera house in 1874.
