Audrey Cordes obituary

Audrey Ann Cordes left this earth for her heavenly home, to receive her crown of glory, on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020. She was born August 10, 1930, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Chester and Kitty (Renn) Conger. She graduated from Waterloo East High School. Following her education she worked for NW Bell Telephone in Waterloo for several years and then in Rochester as a chief operator and district instructor.
On March 4, 1961, she married Walter Cordes at First Presbyterian Church Rochester. After her marriage, she worked as a travel agent at Sharon’s Travel in Red Wing and they farmed in Florence Township until 1992 when they moved to Lake City.  Walter died on April 20, 2008 and she later moved to Deer Crest in Red Wing, in August of 2012. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, West Florence and was a faithful member of the Ladies Aid.  Audrey enjoyed gardening, playing cards and traveling.  She was a very social person and loved to entertain and she and Walter spent many winters in Arizona.  
She is survived by sisters-in-law, Vera Carlson and Verna Koenig of Lake City; brother-in-law Vernice (Fran) Cordes of Red Wing; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-mother, Evelyn Conger and two sisters, Juanita (Conger) Gray and Sandra (Conger) Hoyer Woods.
A walk-through visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 27, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Masks and social distancing required.  A private graveside service will be held at St. John’s Cemetery, Lake City with Rev.
