Carol Hanson obituary
Carol Hanson, 77, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Mayo Lake City Care Center.
Carol was born on February 5, 1948 to Vernon and Mildred Tapp in Austin, Minn. She attended Montessori School in Dexter, Minn. for one year and then attended Elkton School where she graduated in 1966. Carol worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester as a Lab Tech from 1966 through 1968. She then enrolled in Rochester Junior College from 1968-1970 earning a Registered Nursing Degree. Carol worked at St. Marys Hospital until 1978. She married Robert Hanson at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester on May 22, 1971. They purchased a dairy farm in Lake City in 1976 and then moved into Lake City in 2018. They are still farming the land, having sold the dairy herd in 2003. After selling the herd, Carol worked as a PCA at the Lake City Care Center until 2013, when she retired.
Carol is survived by her husband Robert; her brother, James (Janet) Tapp; her children, Eric (Deb) Hanson, Daniel (Jaime) Hanson, Heather (Jason) Raths, Lori (Andy) Anderson, Nicholas (Cathe) Hanson, and Benjamin Hanson; her grandchildren, Ryan (Anna) and Allison Hanson, Brendan and Jacob Hanson, Jonathan and Isabella Raths, Hunter and Dylan Anderson, Logan and Bryce Hanson; and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, David Tapp; sister-in-law, Margaret Tapp; mother and father-in-law, Ione and Raymond Hanson.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Redeeming Grace Community Church in Lake City with Pastor Phillip Schmidt officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson – Peterson Chapel in Lake City and one hour before the service at the church.
